Fan Encounters Lance prepares for the taping of MWL Photo Credit: Becca Williamson Cristi Cristi's First Story: I was in Nashville for fan fair back in June 2001 and I really, REALLY wanted to meet Brad Paisley. Well I knew his line would be very long and that there would not be a good chance that I would actually get to meet him, but that was the reason I had originally went to Nashville. Well it was the day before Brad was signing and there wasn't really anyone there that day that I wanted to stand in line for their name on a piece of paper, so I walked around with my cousin.  We noticed that CMT had a booth in the back and there was a little crowd of people standing over there.  We walked back there and found out that Andy Griggs was about to be interviewed by none other than that cute host from that new show Most Wanted Live.  I recognized Lance as soon as I saw him and I got ready to take a picture of him and as he saw me aim my camera at him, he smiled really big, but then all of the sudden he said "no, no wait a minute!" And then I am thinking oh no what did I do!!! since I do have a tendency to embarass myself when I'm nervous.  So I take the camera down from my eyes and look at Lance.  He says to me really sweetly, "You had your finger over the lens."  So here I am now, embarrassed that I did something so ridiculous, but now as I try to take his picture my hands are shaking because he talked to me and I didnt expect it and I STILL have my finger over the lens and can't seem to get it off.  Well Lance was real patient with me and I finally managed to get my finger off of the lens and get his picture.  So after that whole ordeal he asked me what my name was and where I was from and who I was wanting to see the most at Fan Fair, and I told him about my desire to meet Brad Paisley.  Lance said that Brad is just such a nice guy! I thought that was really sweet.  After we talked a few minutes, he has to prepare to interview Andy Griggs, so he was on his way.  I never got to meet Brad Paisley and incidentally my picture of Lance didn't turn out either (I will definitely be going back to Nashville to get a picture of him!) . Although he has met many people and probably doesn't remmeber this at all, meeting him was the highlight of fan fair for me and he made that one of the most memorable days I have ever had! Cristi's Second Story: On Saturday I was at the convention center, and for the first two hours I was there, I was waiting to meet Tommy Shane Steiner, I was so impressed to see his lines so long every day with him being so new an artist. Anyway, since I was standing in Tommy Shane's line, I had no clue that Lance was there too. So after I got a picture with Tommy Shane, I went to look for my cousins, who I was at the convention center with, but they were nowhere to be found. So I went back to the CMT trailer to see if there were any contests going on, and who was back there but Lance! He was there to sign autographs! So I got a picture taken with him, which may I add turned out quite nice! Then I kind of hung around just to watch Lance interact with the fans. I am so glad that I did! He is just such an amazingly sweet guy. My favorite thing was watching him interact with the kids that wanted to get his autograph and a picture. He would kneel down to their level and talk with them. My favorite moment of the day was watching the very last little girl that got Lance's autograph on Saturday. She walked up and he told her hello and she just gave him the biggest hug. It was just the cutest thing I saw all day long. I forgot to mention that Lance signed autographs, from what I heard, for about four hours. I know he was supposed to leave a lot sooner than he did and yet he stayed longer than he was supposed to. Watching him at Fan Fair just confirmed to me, what a kind person Lance truly is! -- More --
