I met Lance in Topeka, Kansas at the MWL tour with Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts,
and Tommy Shane Steiner. I had absolutely no idea that he was going to be
there, I was just excited that I was on the front row and I was going to see Brad
and Rascal Flatts! I freaked out when I heard his voice over the speaker and
saw him walk right in front of me! It was insane!
Throughout the concert, Lance made appearances on the stage to introduce the
next act and even made an appearance during Brad's performance of "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top with Tommy Shane Steiner. Before he had introduced Brad, he had been standing in "the pit" behind the stage and my friend Jenn and I had seen
him. We were waving at him and trying to get him to come over and talk to us,
but of course he couldn?t because he was about to go on stage. I was so excited
though that he had waved at us and acknowledged the fact that we were even
there! I told my friend Jenn that I really wanted to meet him and that it would
make my whole night if I could just get a picture with him.
The rest of the concert went really fast! It was a great show and I don't think
I've had that much fun in my life. After the show was over, we were leaving and
I saw Ben (Brad's drummer) down in front talking to fans. I had met him in
Missouri in February, so I wanted to go down and say hi to him. So, we walked
over to say hi, and standing right behind him was Lance! Jenn looked at me and
said "Here's your chance, go over and say hi to him!" So, I did. I waited for
him to take some pictures and sign some autographs for some younger girls and
then I went up to him and said hi. He was so awesome! He apologized for not
being able to come say hi to me earlier and gave me this great big hug! Then he
gave me his autograph and my friend and I posed for a picture. His friend Shawn
was trying to take the picture, but couldn't get the camera to work. After
several tries, he looked at Lance and said he had to go. Lance looked at me,
and said he was so sorry, then he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek (OMG!).
I nearly died! But then Jenn got her camera to work and Lance told Shawn that
he was going to take this last picture and then he'd have to go. Shawn took the
picture and started to leave. Lance gave me another hug, kissed me on the cheek
again, and told me how glad he was that he got to meet me. I told him that I
really enjoyed meeting him too and hoped to meet him again someday. He hugged
me one last time and then left.
And that was my first, but hopefully not my last, Lance encounter! It turned
out to be the greatest night of my life! He was so sweet and kind, just like I
thought he would be!
If you're reading this Lance, I really enjoyed meeting you! You are one of the
nicest people I've ever met! I hope to meet you again someday soon! By the
way, thanks for sticking around and waiting for the camera to work! I love that
picture!
