When Lance was the host of MWL, my friend, Leslie, and I used to go to the tapings of the show whenever we could. We sat on the on-tv audience a lot and even got to the point where everybody on the set knew us, and a few times when they were short a few audience members, we would get pulled into the audience. We were known as the "regulars" of the show. Of course we would stay after and talk to Lance anytime we had extra time and if he wasn't bombarded by a million people. I have a million great stories of him, and I'll share a couple of them here.... Before I ever went to the set of MWL, I had watched the show a lot during the summer and thought Lance was really cute of course. The first time I went to the show, before they started, I got his attention and he waved at me, which just made my day...then after the show, I saw him talking to somebody that works at the Hall of Fame, and he noticed me looking at him, so I asked him for a picture, and he was like "Sure" and walked over and put his arm around me to take the picture...he was so sweet. One day, when Lance was just extremely hyper (which is most of the time), Leslie and I were standing in the side line audience. During one of the commercial breaks, Lance was dancing around and trying to rap something, so I couldn't help but give him a weird look....and he happened to see me give him this look, so he runs over and looks at me and starts "dancing" and makes up some little rhyme like "My name is Lance, and I can prance...wanna see me dance?" then he couldn't think of anything else, so the woman beside me said "And, you have no Ba-lance." And, he was like "oh I used to get made fun of for that in kindergarden a lot." What he actually meant by that I don't know, but he had everybody just cracking up.
Another day, after the show, Leslie and I got in the end of the line to talk to Lance. By this time, we'd talked to him a lot and he knew us and stuff. Well when we got to the front of the line, he just looked at us and said he was so tired and sick. Leslie told him he needed to take his vitamins, and he was like, "no way, vitamins are disgusting!" So, Leslie, being a big health fanatic kept telling him he should take his vitamins everyday and told him that "Vitamins kill colds," and lectured him over this for a while. They were arguing over whether he should take his vitamins, which was just hilarious. To this day, he still won't take them of course, but that has turned into a big joke between the three of us, and for his birthday notebook I sent him a poem about vitamins. He emailed me and told me he knew it was from me as soon as he started reading it.
Lance is definitely the sweetest and craziest person I have ever met. And, I mean crazy in a good way. I haven't actually seen him in about a year, but I email him, and he always writes back when he gets a chance. I've told him about problems going on in my life, and he always finds a way to make me feel better. He has a way with words and with people that just makes you feel so special. Anyways, I have many many many more stories about Lance, but I'll share more later if you would like to hear them.
One day at MWL in Dec of 01...right before all the changes, I went to the show. It was right before I had to go home for Christmas break, so it was the last time I saw him for a long time. Anyways, at the end of the show, Lance and Amber Mogg used to sit in the audience to do the last announcements and all that fun stuff. And, the audience sat on these benches that were really crowded, and if you sat on the top row, it was totally cramped up b/c the person in the front row always ended up sitting on your foot. Well, on this day, I was in the back row, and at the end of the show, Lance sat right in front of me. And...while the #1 video was still showing, Lance was just sitting down to get ready to shoot the ending, and Amber was sitting right beside him. When he sat down, he sat on my feet on purpose, and looked back at me and gave me a really evil grin.. So, I like slapped up on the shoulder. Then, he got up, and a few seconds later, he sat on my feet again and gave me that same evil grin, so I slapped his shoulder again. Then right after that, he sat on me again, so I kicked him off my feet, and he totally over dramatized and acted like I kicked him really hard. He fell on the floor in front of him, and he hollered out real loud like I hurt him so bad. Everybody in the audience and the whole camera crew was looking at me like I was this horrible person. My friend who was sitting by me and Amber both looked at me and were like, "OMG what are you doing?" So I was like, "Don't even start with me, he started it all," and they were totally freakin out on me. And, Lance had just sat back on the bench and had the most innocent look on his face like he didn't know what was going on. So, when he could tell the scene was over and nobody was looking at us anymore, he looked at me and started laughing. It was so funny but so mean LOL. My friend still doesn't believe me that he was doing that. She thought I kicked him really hard and I was so mean to him. He over-dramatized it big time. Anyways, right after that, they taped the end of the show, and I went home. So, next time you say he's the sweetest person in the world, think again LOL j/k.
Actually, I will add on one more small story about him being sweet. There was another time when I was at the taping of the show, and I was in the sidelines audience, not sitting down this time. Much more comfy, but I had to stand up lol. Well, Lance had just said that they were going to commercials and they'd be back shortly, blah blah blah....well I started walking towards the bathroom, oblivious to everything going on around me. And, suddenly I got stopped b/c someone was hugging me. I was kinda freaked out of course, once the hug was over, I realized it was Lance LOL. Of course I didn't mind anymore. He's so sweet (usually). Then, we just talked about random stuff for a few minutes, and he went to talk to some friends since that's why he was walking that direction anyways. So, I went in the bathroom, and when I came back, I heard, "20 SECONDS!!!! Lance get up here!!!!" He was still back talking to his friends, so he had to run up to his spot to tape the next video intro.
