Lance's dad wrote this letter and addressed it to all of Lance's fans: Saturday June 15, 2002  I have known David Lance Smith for 23 years and let me say it is a pleasure to say he is my son. Yes, I am Lance's dad and I have never written to anyone or answered in any public way about Lance, until tonight. I was at Fan Fair today watching people ask for his autograph and he stayed there for about four hours signing...I want to personally thank every person that patiently waited in line for his autograph. He might be the host on the show, but without people like all of you, the show doesn't exist. One last thing, if you ever see Lance out, speak to him.  He is in life, like what you see on t.v.
